Annual Meeting for 2020, the year of COVID-19.

Invitation to the Annual Meeting of the Marstrand Non-Profit Association for the Victorian Days in 2020.

Hello, now we can finally have the annual meeting for the year 2020, the year of Covid-19. We are planning to hold the annual meeting at Bohus Fortress, in Fars Hatt (the tower that is preserved on the fortress).

Ahead of the annual meeting, we, along with Bohus Fortress, are organizing a Lucia concert in the Fortress Park. Our assessment has been that we can reach all residents of Kungälv and promote the Victorian days in Marstrand.

We have invited Gothenburg's Lucia (50 talented young singers from Hvitfeldtska's Esthetic Line) to Kungälv. The 5000 SEK it costs will go directly to BRIS (Children's Rights in Society), and that feels good.

The concert starts at 5:00 PM, but already at 4:00 PM, our friends at GKSS will light over 1000 torches in and around the fortress.

We expect the Lucia concert to be finished by 7:00 PM. After that, we will walk together up to Fars Hatt where we will hold the annual meeting. It's warm and cozy inside Fars Hatt, and we hope for a pleasant gathering and a little bit of the annual meeting. We, the board, call this annual meeting XXL considering the concert beforehand.

Those attending the annual meeting are welcome to notify Bo via email [email protected] since only 40 people can attend, please notify Bo via email at least one week before the annual meeting on December 4th.

Annual meeting documents will be provided well in advance of the annual meeting. Documents for this year's meeting are not particularly extensive, given the prevailing situation. The documents will be published on our website.

Victorian days 2021

This year's Victorian Days will, as usual, kick off on August 6th with a youth concert at 6:00 PM at Marstrand Church.

Then the festivities continue on Saturday, August 7th, with a market, the arrival of King Oscar II on the steamship Bohuslän, dancing, music, and even more delights!

On Sunday, you'll have the opportunity to listen to storyteller Mikael, be amazed by magician Joel, and follow Göran "In Oscar's Footsteps."
All this and more will be available in our program booklet, which you will receive upon arrival on the island during our event.

This year, we have placed a new focus on children, and in Paradisparken, there are games for both young and old!

We follow current corona restrictions and it is important that you as a visitor also take your own responsibility.

Hope to see you at the Victorian days on August 6th to 8th!

Victorian days update

We are currently working on a really good membership register in our accounting program, and it will be ready by spring. We can't wait for it to be completed, so we're reaching out now and hoping you would like to become a member in 2021. As a member, you can participate in and support the Victorian days. The membership fee is 200 SEK and can be easily paid via our Swish number 1236328629. It's also possible to pay through our bank giro account 695-8813.

As mentioned earlier, our association has created an anniversary book. It is still available. You have the opportunity to buy one or more books for 200 SEK each. Send a text message to Linnéa Johansson at 072-1958107, and she will assist you in getting a book.

What did the Victorian days do in 2020?
Covid-19 hit hard during the summer of 2020. We didn't get permission to hold our usual events. However, the Municipality of Kungälv told us to provide summer jobs for the youth and to broadcast performances and concerts via social media. The summer jobs were to be carried out. So, we arranged about 40 performances, which are available to watch on our website. We also had a clothing exhibition and a singing show in Paradisparken for parts of the Swedish 1800s Society who visited the event to see if they would hold their annual gathering in Marstrand. And they will, so in 2021, the Victorian Era professionals will be our guests. It will be exciting. We rearranged our budget significantly and decided to invest resources in updating our clothes; the costumes are now even more historically accurate.

Ahead of the summer of 2021, we really hope to be able to have events like our days again. The signals we're receiving are positive. The theme for this year's Victorian Days is "Children's Victorian Era". What was it like to be a child in 1890, what was school like, how did children play, child labor, etc.

Hope to see you this year from August 6th to 8th at Marstrand's quays!
